Context
Cornerstone Buildings sells sheds, garages and outbuildings. Customers design and price their building in an interactive 3D builder before ordering, so the builder is the heart of the sales process.
The problem
The 3D builder ran on legacy .NET Framework with full-page postbacks. Every configuration change felt sluggish, and the system was increasingly hard to maintain across four regional storefronts.
What we did
- Rebuilt the 3D builder from the ground up as a React application.
- Kept the existing product API as the source of truth and redesigned the data-loading layer around it.
- Rolled out region by region over six months so no live storefront went down.
Results
What changed.
Regional storefronts migrated: US, Canada, UK and Germany.
Storefront downtime during the six-month migration.
Our old .NET builder was the thing customers complained about most. The team rebuilt it in React without us losing a day of trading in any region, and it’s just fast now — 1.2 seconds and it’s ready to go.
